Wait and See

This painting was done in loving memory of my Dad, Finn Torjesen, who passed Oct 16, 2023. It is also a sequel to Whose Yoke, a painting done for him in 2017 when he experienced a severe burn-out. Sitting by Dad’s side in the hospital, and then at home on hospice, I kept thinking of that first painting and the prayer that God would lift Dad’s burdens. In his final days Dad’s face exuded peace, and he blessed us with many smiles. The prayer was finally fulfilled. This new image is the next chapter. Dad at perfect rest, full of life. I see him waiting for us, a twinkle in his eye as if to say: “if only you knew, the best is yet to come…”

The beach in the background is Dad’s favorite childhood spot in Taiwan.

  • Print Options

Mounted Canvas: with 3" wraparound border, sprayed and mounted on a sturdy kiln dried wood stretcher frame. The mounted canvases are sprayed to avoid cracking at edges and extend the already very long lifetime (about 150 years) before fading. It also provides abrasion resistance, all without adding glossiness to the print. A backing panel and hanger are included so it is ready to hang.

Unmounted canvas: This option is perfect for those who want to mat and frame the image. It comes with a 2" border, also making it a good option for those who want to stretch and mount their own canvas.
