Beautifully Broken

In memory of my cousin, Ian Saracoff. Ian was one of the most genuine, gracious and creative people I’ve ever met. As a young man, he had no way of predicting the struggles he would face in life. Few people expect their days to be filled with hospital rooms, surgeries, rehabs, and saying goodbye to dearly held dreams. I know, when looking at the picture of his life, there were times of great disappointment and the feeling of brokenness. At the same time, those who knew Ian could see that it was in the very midst of the brokenness that his true colors and beauty showed. This painting was my prayer through the last year of his life that God would give him eyes to see the beauty. Ian’s physical brokenness was obvious and unavoidable, but many walk each day with brokenness, both obvious and hidden. I will continue this prayer; may we not be defeated by our brokenness but learn to see it through Gods eyes. Beautifully Broken.
