Our relationship with God is complicated. Like our emotions it takes many twists and turns. Praise God, He is truly faithful, staying present and close through the many tantrums, sadness, fear and joy. While He is gracious with us even during the times we lash out, He longs for the moments when we finally fall into His arms, seek His comfort, submit and allow Him to love, comfort and guide us. No wonder His beloved is called Israel, ‘one who wrestles with God.’

Where are you in your relationship with God? Are you wrestling? Are angry, frustrated or maybe delighted and in love? Maybe you’re just feeling tired. There can be so many different seasons that all fit into this relationship of love. Even the times of anger and weariness. I once heard it said that the opposite of love is not anger, it’s apathy. That may be the most dangerous emotion, because it takes us out of relationship. Stay in true relationship with God. He can handle it and He is always there, ready to hold you when you come to Him.
