This painting came on the heels of another one, ‘Knit Together’. It was a way to process the emotions that I went through in painting what was an extremely painful, yet powerful piece for me. Abba emphasized that none of my sorrow goes unseen or uncared for. He was right there with me as I acknowledged with my brush the pain of infertility and as I gave my children, my future, and my desires over into His hands.

In times of deep sadness it can feel as though God has abandoned us because He is not actively take away the cause of our sorrow. But there are times, for whatever reason, where He chooses to let the sorrow remain. What we don’t see is that in those times He sits with us, is present with us. What we don’t always realize is how precious our tears are to Him. He understands their value.

Where have you felt alone in your grief and sorrow? Where have you felt abandoned? I know it’s not easy, but can you picture Him there? Can you see Him tenderly collecting your tears as He weeps alongside you?
